Australian athletes have a long history of making an impact in the American football (Gridiron). The unique skills developed in AFL such as long kicking, spatial awareness, and different kicking styles, translate directly into punting and kicking roles in American football. At The Gridiron Company, we harness these natural strengths and refine them for the US stage.
Darren Bennett – Former AFL player who became one of the NFL’s greatest punters, paving the way for future Australians (and also technical director here at the Gridiron Company).
Sav Rocca – Transitioned from a 15-year AFL career to become the oldest rookie in NFL history, punting for the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins (and also director of coaching here at the Gridiron Company).
Ben Graham – Similarly transitioned from an AFL career into NFL. The first Australian to play in a Super Bowl, showing just how far this pathway can go.
And many more!

Australian players are comfortable kicking while moving which gives us a unique weapon that American players generally aren't as comfortable with.

AFL demands precision over distance, a skill that directly transfers to field positioning and strategy in Gridiron punts.

Where Gridiron punters will commonly use spiral kicks, Australian punters have brought the drop punt style into the United States, throwing off the opposing team and creating unique opportunities.

Pressure is everywhere in Aussie Rules with taclking being such a large part of the game. This translates perfectly to punting in Gridiron, since the punter has to perform their kick reliably while the other team is rushing at them.
